Doesn’t matter if it is a holiday or not, you want your pet to look cute in an adorable outfit and you can’t get him to keep it on. Rather he is being stubborn, or scared of it, here is some advice to help you get him to wear it.

Just like you, your dog is not going to put something on that looks weird to him. If you were given some plastic wrap outfit would you put it on? You are going to want to look it over, make sure it isn’t going to hurt you etc. Your dog is the same way. Once he acts like he is okay with the clothes then you can just kind of lay them over his back and let him walk around with them over him so he knows they aren’t going to hurt him. After a while he will start to get used to them. Find comfortable costumes for dogs will make the process a lot easier.

If for some reason your dog is still not accepting the dog costumes or clothes you are trying to put on him you may need to look at them closer to figure out why. Some dogs just do not like things going around their back or legs. If this is the case with your dog you can see if there is any way to just have it go around his neck. Your dog may also hear noises coming from the clothes or costume as he is walking. You can try to take these parts off or do something with them so they aren’t making as much noise. The noise may be scaring him or her.

If the only reason you are dressing your dog up is for Halloween or another holiday that has made you want to dress them up, just keep in mind that they can be stubborn. Do not let this effect your future holidays. Don’t get frustrated with him, just keep trying.
