Separation anxiety is a major problem for many dog owners. For dogs with separation anxiety, and panic and run to one of destructive behaviors, such as on the left. They often exhibit anxiety and behavioral problems such as destructive chewing, always clear, digging / scratching at the door, windows or carpets, urine or constipation, etc. It is not uncommon for dogs with severe separation anxiety, destroying thousands of dollars of furniture. Some have even been known to pass through windows or glass doors in an effort to owner / person. How do you know if your dog suffers from separation anxiety? The following are signs that your dog will probably suffer from this disorder;
- It shows the anxiety and fear when leaving the house. Items such as keys or access your dress him triggering the display argument.
- If you’re at home, your dog follows you everywhere and never seemed to be himself content. He wants all the time.
- For the most part, only your dog behaves in an inappropriate, when he was left alone. For example, if you are at home your dog barks frequently. But were you two separated, and he alone, can clearly be incompatible due to his fear. As another example, your dog may be totally familiar. But if only urine or feces left at home.
- If you come home after a separation of host behavior is terrible and too enthusiastic.
Dogs are pack animals and as such it is normal to want him, you and your family. But most dogs are content to be left alone during the season. A dog who does not suffer from separation anxiety tend to sleep or rest, if left alone. But as mentioned, a dog that is not the anguish in fear when they are left alone or separated from their people … even if it suffers a few minutes of ingestion. How can you help your dog overcome this fear if you are separated? Here are some tips that I personally used to help overcome her fear of one of my dogs;
First make sure you give your dog plenty of exercise per day and socialization. A tired dog is usually a good dog! Before leaving home, take your dog for a long walk or a romp in the dog park, it is more likely to be destructive when it is tired.
2nd Start slowly and practice to sit and stay “command. Here are some examples. Do you have your dog sit and stay in a room separate from you for a few seconds at a time of departure. You can work up more slowly. Also, let your dog outside while you’re inside, slowly working a longer period of time. Do not wait until they become very anxious. The trick is show them that you are back and there is no reason to fear. Do not be a big problem if you bring your dog with you. Act no big deal!
